Dear Bro. Stoneking,
Thank you for letting the Lord
talk through you and for being the man of God that you are.
I’m so blessed to belong to the Apostolic Faith Church
in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I
am amazed when I think of how they were there, not only
with their prayers but someone was praying daily for me, I was
always in their mind and heart.
I was diagnosed with multiple
sclerosis (MS) in 1992. I
was heavily medicated on so many different drugs and steroids.
It began flaring up in 1995, and in 1996 it really began
getting so much worse. It
would ease up for a few months, but symptoms would always be
present. I think it
was 1997 when I got my first wake-up call that this was serious
and started feeling hopeless and worthless.
I continued coming to church
having faith, wanting so much to set an example for my children.
I have two daughters that I love so much, and I wanted
them to know who Jesus is and the way to go if something should
happen to me.
Toward the end of 1997 I found
myself with tremors, which is common to MS, but something new
for me. I was
hospitalized and by 1998 I was housebound with nurses
administering physical and occupational therapy.
I shook so much they would not
let me cook. People
from my church brought meals to the house for me and my
family. When I couldn’t handle much of anything, Sister Dottie
came and stayed with my family helping to care for my children.
I feel so blessed that she cared enough to stay with us
because I was so
medicated I slept almost constantly.
She was there for them when I couldn’t be.
Thank you Jesus for my sisters and brothers in the Lord!
I had lost my body functions,
my coordination, and most of my eyesight—I was considered
legally blind—and in a wheelchair.
Nothing was the same for me anymore...
I couldn’t do anything but pray, sleep, and eat.
I knew God would bring me through, but still I had fear
within me.
The MS moved to my back, which
is rare. In my
terrible illness, I feared losing my husband and children, but
God is so good! My
husband stuck by my side the whole time, “Glory to God!”
Then I had to start wearing sunglasses to ease the pain
in my eyes. When
light shined in my eyes, they would hurt terribly resulting in
headaches. I wore
one pair of sunglasses during the day and 3 pair at night when
riding in a car.
I was feeling my worst, as
though the Lord had given up on me and wasn’t hearing my
prayers... Then in
February of 1999, Brother Stoneking came and preached at our
church. There was a
powerful move of the Holy Ghost, and Bro. Stoneking preached for
three consecutive nights. Each
night my faith began to build up again.
On the second night I remember God using Bro.
Stoneking’s preaching to build my faith even more.
He prayed for me and I took the sunglasses off.
I remember looking up at the light in faith and got an
instant headache. Bro.
Stoneking was praying for someone else at this time, so Pastor
Nix prayed for me and my headache instantly went away.
I came back Sunday night, and
we had an incredible service!
The choir started out by singing how God is able, and
then Brother Stoneking preached a powerful, faith-building
message again. I remember him sharing things about others
that he had seen healed, and Sis. Sonda coming over and sitting
by me toward the end of the service.
She kept saying to me, “Who’s he talking about?”
Then I remember my faith building and slowly taking the
sunglasses off, looking up at the lights, and felt NO pain—I
could see as plain as day.
“WOW!” God
is awesome!
Brother Stoneking went on
preaching about all the others he’d seen receive miracles.
He said, “If He can do it for them, He can do it for
you,” and something just pulled me up out of my wheelchair.
For someone that was very shaky and unsteady, it all left
me that night. I
was going down the aisle shouting and giving God the glory, for
He had restored my sight and made me able to walk again without
falling. GLORY
BE TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST FOR ALL HE HAS DONE FOR ME!
That night I left walking and
seeing clearly. Brother
Stoneking had prayed divine healing over my body the night
before when God did those miraculous healings in my body.
He wasn’t done with me yet, for I still had the loss of
body functions. But
by the grace of God, by March of 1999, only a month after I got
out of the wheelchair, I got back ALL of my body functions.
I returned to the eye doctor,
and he was amazed when he re-tested me. He said that before,
they had considered me legally blind, but now I could go fly a
jet with my perfect vision; now he says I don’t even need my
glasses. “God
deserves the glory!”
I was at the end of my rope.
I’m so glad I hung in there.
I guess it’s true what they say that just when you quit
is when you could’ve made it.
“Thank you Jesus!”
And to those of you that helped me hang in there, I
couldn’t have made it without your prayers.
There were so many others that were healed that night,
and more since. God
is a healer and He is my everything.
For as of today, November 28, 1999, I feel better than
ever.
THANK YOU JESUS!
God Bless You,
Sis. Kelly Durham
PS:
Told in her own words, the above story is a great testimony to
the healing power of the Lord in our day. Sister Durham is
still wonderfully healed completely as of this date (Apr 12,
2000) defying all the medical prognosis and diagnosis.
Whey they say, "No, we have done all we can, there is
another Voice that says, Try Me..." His Name is
Jesus!!! We must always remember, every miracle
begins with an impossibility...
