Here we see the rise of denominations and a 'development' of Reformation Christianity which looked neither like Apostolic Christianity as preached by the Apostles in the Book of Acts from 33 AD through approximately 100 AD nor Church Father Christianity which 'developed' shortly thereafter. Up to this point, we have the Dark Ages.  The Light was hidden for 1200 years - True Salvation as the Apostles had 'experienced' and  preached it was LOST!  Let me reiterate:

Man made substitutions arose:

1 - Sprinkling of infants

2 - Communion or Lord's Supper was believed to impart the Life of Christ

3 - Confession to man took the place of repentance to God

4 - Doctrine of Purgatory or second chance after death instituted
